The Big Island Rendezvous Education Days / Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce Gourmet Food Auction is in its 12th year of raising money to support the mission of our partnership.
The Gourmet Auction has raised over $60,000 throughout the years, with over $10,000 raised at the 2011 event alone. These funds go towards brining in re-enactors for students to experience, as well as subsudizing classes that would otherwise be unable to experience the Big Island Rendezvous Education Days through reduced entrance fees, scholarships, and trip funding grants.
We raise money through both a silent auction, and live auction items throughot the evening. Food is served by many local individuals and restaurants for you to sample featuring many of the food items available to bid on during the live auction.
We also organize and participate in the Annual Gourmet Cooks' Auction in Austin, Minnesota at the Hormel Historic Home. This is a partnership with the Historic Paramount Theatre and helps with scholarships from schools out of Mower County. Join us in October for great food and great fun.
